Poha recipe
Ingredients
1 cup flattened rice (poha)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1–2 green chilies, chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
8–10 curry leaves
1 small potato, finely chopped (optional)
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt, to taste
2 tbsp oil
2–3 tbsp roasted peanuts (optional)
Fresh coriander, chopped
Lemon juice, to taste
Instructions
Rinse poha in a colander under running water for 30–40 seconds. Drain and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
Add curry leaves, green chilies, and chopped onions. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
If using potatoes, add them and cook until soft.
Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
Add the drained poha and roasted peanuts. Mix gently, ensuring poha is coated with spices.
Cover and cook for 2–3 minutes on low flame.
Garnish with fresh coriander and squeeze lemon juice before serving.
Serving suggestion:
Serve hot as a breakfast or snack, optionally with a side of yogurt or chutney.
